Code of Ethics

At The Good Shaman, all sessions are offered within a clear ethical framework rooted in respect, integrity, and responsibility. This Code of Ethics outlines the principles that guide my practice and my relationship with clients.

1. Scope of Practice

I offer complementary energy sessions that integrate Reiki-informed practices, nature-inspired energy awareness, and intuitive presence.

My work:

  • Is non-invasive and client-led
  • Supports relaxation, grounding, and self-awareness
  • Is offered as a complementary practice

I do not diagnose conditions, prescribe medication, offer medical or psychological advice, or claim to treat illness or mental health conditions.

Energy work is not a substitute for professional medical or psychological care.

2. Client Autonomy & Responsibility

Clients are recognised as autonomous individuals with full responsibility for their own health, wellbeing, and life choices.

Sessions are entered into voluntarily, and clients are encouraged to make informed, conscious decisions about their participation. No specific outcomes are guaranteed.

Clients are free to pause, decline, or end a session at any time.

3. Consent & Boundaries

Clear, informed consent is central to my practice.

  • Sessions are explained in advance
  • Physical contact, if used, is always discussed and offered only with consent
  • Clients remain fully clothed at all times
  • Boundaries are maintained with professionalism and respect

Any form of coercion, pressure, or dependency is not supported within this practice.

4. Safety & Professional Integrity

Sessions are offered in a grounded, respectful, and ethical manner.

I work within the limits of my training, experience, and competence. Where appropriate, I may suggest that a client seek support from a qualified healthcare or mental health professional.

I do not work with clients in a way that could reasonably replace or interfere with necessary medical or psychological care.

5. Confidentiality & Privacy

Client confidentiality is respected at all times.

Personal information is handled in accordance with UK data protection law (UK GDPR). Information is not shared with third parties without consent, unless required by law.

Please refer to the Privacy Policy for full details.

6. Non-Discrimination & Respect

I am committed to offering a respectful, inclusive, and non-discriminatory space.

Sessions are offered without discrimination based on race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, belief system, disability, or background.

No specific belief system is required to engage with this work.

7. Cultural Respect

While my work is informed by nature-inspired principles such as earth connection, symbolism, and energetic awareness, it does not claim affiliation with any indigenous lineage or cultural tradition.

This practice is contemporary, non-appropriative, and offered with respect for the origins of nature-inspired traditions.

8. Professional Boundaries & Dual Relationships

Clear professional boundaries are maintained at all times.

I avoid dual relationships that could compromise professional integrity, clarity, or client wellbeing. Any potential conflicts of interest are addressed transparently.

9. Integrity in Representation

All information shared on this website and in sessions is presented honestly and responsibly.

I do not make exaggerated claims, guarantees, or promises of outcomes. Testimonials reflect individual experiences and are not presented as typical or guaranteed results.

10. Ongoing Development & Reflection

I am committed to ongoing learning, reflection, and professional development to ensure my work remains ethical, informed, and aligned with best practice.

11. Concerns or Questions

If you have questions or concerns about this Code of Ethics or the way sessions are offered, you are encouraged to raise them openly.
